Overview of the 5 most common mistakes in yoga classes:
- Beginning class with slow, static poses, and long holds. Too many set-ups or instructions, details. It is better to keep them for later on
- Seated forward bends at the beginning of the yoga asana class. Later it is safer
- Performing backbends without thigh stretches before backbends. It is important to open all the body parts required for back-bending
- Immediately follow forward folds after backbends, especially after Chakrasana/Urdhva Dhanurasana/Wheel Pose. For some students, it could lead to back pain and spasms. Instead, we can bring the knees to the chest or rest the feet on the ground. We can also perform Supta Baddha Konasana, Supta Parivartanasana, or Jathara Parivartanasana, to neutralize the spine and continue with rolls from side to side, to loosing up our backs
